Purple Cow Jasper Agate Slab for Lapidary

Description

Purple Cow is a jasper/ agate/ opal material that comes exclusively from the McDermitt caldera, on the Oregon side of the Oregon / Nevada border.

This piece is predominantly jasper. The area with the purple “heart” is opal and translucent. The edges of this slab are crazed, white opal and will likely fall away when you begin working is, unless you stabilize it first.                                                                          There are a few tiny druzy pockets in the center of the slab but otherwise it it solid.

Purple Cow is nice and hard when jasper or agate and it takes a beautiful polish.                 The opal areas can be a bit softer but will also polish well with some patience.

Slab is roughly 5.5” x 2.5” at the widest points and .25” thick.
